The Reds take on Jose Mourinho's side at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, with victory over their arch rivals seeing them go 19 points ahead of them.

Despite contrasting first halves to the season, any fixture against a Jose Mourinho side promises to be a cagey affair.

The Reds have often been frustrated against Mourinho, with the last two meetings at Anfield ending goalless, despite Liverpool being in a rich vein of form for both.

“I don't think Jose Mourinho ever has a lack of ambition,” Klopp told reporters when asked on Mourinho's defensive style.

“He just does what he thinks is right, and he's one of the most successful managers in the world.

“[Last season's game] was not a joy for us.”

Klopp go into this side with five wins on the bounce and having qualified for the last 16 in the against on Tuesday, they will be full of confidence.

However, Klopp insisted that the Reds must not rest on their laurels and "fight" for all three points against United.

“I don't know what other teams make of our situation. But we never thought before a game, because we have a few good results in the past at , that it would be easy in the next game,” he said.

“That's not the mood you can football games in. We have to be angry on Sunday and we will be.

“We fight for our points, we don't sort problems for others or whatever; we have our own problems and our own targets and we go for them.”

Klopp also offered an injury update ahead of the fixture, confirming that is ruled out of the game, joining and Joel Matip on the sidelines.
