Arne Slot provided an injury update during his press conference ahead of the matchup with Nottingham Forest. It was a mixed bag for the Reds. Joe Gomez is expected to get the start on the backline after coming on as a substitute in the two matches.
Jeremie Frimpong could return as early as February 28th vs. West Ham, and Alexander Isak is in training, eying a late-March return. Unfortunately, there is no timetable for Wataru Endō, while Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leonni have been ruled out for the season.
Joe Gomez
Joe Gomez has been on the substitutes bench for the last two matches and is now considered fully fit. When asked if Gomez was ready to start, Slot replied with a simple, “Yes, I think he is.
Jeremie Frimpong
The defender has been out ever since he was stretched off of the pitch early in Liverpool’s 6-0 win vs. Qarabag.
"Jeremie will not be involved this weekend yet," Slot said. "We hope he will be involved next week [against West Ham United] if things go as planned."
Wataru Endō
Endō has been out since February 11th, when he was stretched off due to a serious foot injury vs. Sunderland.
“Wata will be out for a long time, as I said earlier. We don't know exactly how long - but long,” Slot confirmed.
Alexander Isak
The Swedish striker has been out with a broken leg since scoring against Tottenham on December 20th. The Reds are eyeing a late-March or early-April return.
“It will be somewhere around there, and then it’s always the question if things go really well or if he gets a little bit of a setback,” Slo said. “So, it will be around that period of time – end of March, start of April, when he’s hopefully back with the group. When you’re back with the group it’s not to say that you are ready to play, let alone start, a game of football because, again, he’s been out for months and the last time he’s been out for months I think we could all see that it took him a while before he was the player we have signed from Newcastle.”
