Chelsea vs Liverpool highlights: Watch the goals and highlights as the Reds shared a point at Stamford Bridge to kick off the New Year.
It was a quick start between the two sides that saw an early yellow card for Sadio Mane before important interceptions by Edouard Mendy and Caoimhin Kelleher on either end of the pitch.
Despite the hosts largely dominating the ball, it was Liverpool who went ahead inside the opening ten minutes as an error by Trevoh Chalobah allowed Mane through on goal, with the winger excellently going past Mendy in goal before slotting the ball into the back of the net with a fine finish.
Liverpool weathered a Blues response and they displayed their cutting edge once again as an excellent move down the right saw Trent Alexander-Arnold release Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian beating Marcos Alonso before cutting inside and brilliantly finishing inside the near post to make it 2-0 and put Liverpool in total control.
Despite all of the Reds' good work, they saw their advantage quickly evaporate as Chelsea scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half to level the scores at the break.
Mateo Kovacic pulled one back with a superb first-time volley from outside the box before Christian Pulisic got in behind the Reds defence and found the top corner to make it 2-2.
Despite the lack of goals in the second half, it remained an equally enthralling game in the second 45 as both sides went toe-to-toe in search of the winning goal.
However, neither strikeforce could find the all-important breakthrough as it finished 2-2. Liverpool remain in third, a point below Chelsea and eleven points off league-leaders Manchester City.
