Arne Slot addressed Andy Robertson’s recent comments about his future with the club, provided big injury updates on Conor Bradley, and discussed when Mohamed Salah will be back with the club, while warning that Burnley are still a dangerous team despite their low position on the table.

Robertson’s Future With The Reds

Andy Robertson has been in Liverpool colours since 2017, but his contract expires at the end of the season. The Scottish captain says he is still enjoying the season, but admits he wants more playing time after seeing his minutes reduced in favour of Milos Kerkez.

“I'm just trying to enjoy being a part of it, and being a Liverpool player,” Roberson said. “I wanted to qualify for the World Cup, and thankfully, we've managed to do that. I need to see what myself and my family wants moving forward.”

Slot praised Robertson’s response.

“I think that’s really mature of him. I could understand everything he was saying. I think every player  should have the same feelings about wanting to play as much as possible, but I am really happy he understands how important he is to the club, and he is finding joy in his role this season.”

Team News

Slot confirmed for the first time publicly that Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni will be out for the season with injuries. He is still hopeful that Alexander Isak can come back late in the campaign. Mohamed Salah still has the third-place game to play at the AFCON but will rejoin the Reds in time for their Champions League match next week.

“We have been in discussions with Mo about his role when he comes back,” Slot said. “He still has a big game on Saturday to focus on, but I know we will be very happy to have him back. He has so many big contributions to the club over the years, and last year. It’s always nice to have that calibre of player available.”

Don’t Overlook The Clarets

Despite being 19th on the table, Burnley have been in almost every match. Liverpool know this all too well as it took a stoppage-time penalty kick from Salah to win at Turf Moor back in September.

“They made it really hard for us that day,” Slot said. “It took us till the 95th minute to score on a handball we deserved, but you never know how those decisions are going to go. Sometimes in life in general and in football refereeing, you don’t always get what you deserve. This game will be at home, though, which is always a big plus for us.”

LFC Globe Verdict

It is sad and disappointing to hear that Conor Badley and Giovanni Leoni will be out for the season, but that’s the nature of football. Other players have stepped up during the good run of form the Reds are on. As for the match with Burnley, Liverpool need an early goal to put the match to bed. The longer they let the Clarets hang around, the more dangerous they can be.
