Liverpool 1-0 Everton - Reds win in dramatic late fashion

Liverpool sealed an incredible late 1-0 over in a fierce derby that saw Jurgen Klopp‘s side keep up their pursuit of Man City.

Liverpool came out on top of a sensational Merseyside derby that had it all as substitute scored a last gasp winner at the Kop end to give the Reds all three points.

With time running out in injury time, Liverpool sent a free-kick deep into the area which was cleared by the Blues.

The ball fell to , who swung his right leg at it and sent the ball looping into the air and looking like it was heading out.

However, the ball came down on Jordan Pickford, who attempted to grasp at the ball, only to tip it on to the crossbar twice for Origi to head in from close range.

Incredible scenes saw Jurgen Klopp run on to the pitch and celebrate with goalkeeper Alisson as the rest of the Reds celebrated in front of the Kop and claim derby day bragging rights.

Goalscorers

‣ 1-0: Divock Origi (90+6)

Sadio Mane and started the game well, threatening the Blues defence. However, Marco Silva's Everton were highly energetic and the game took on an end-to-end style.

Alisson made an incredible save from Andre Gomes, who had a free header from close-range, whilst slid in to deny the loose ball from going over the line.

could have soon given Liverpool the lead but his right-foot shot was straight at Pickford, before Alisson was called in again to deny Theo Walcott with a touch of the ball as the winger attempted to round him.

The first half came to a close with both sides level, although there were chances aplenty and either side could have been a goal or two up.

Liverpool added pressure in the second half through Salah and Mane, with the latter coming close twice to giving the Reds the lead.

With chances drying up and Everton gaining momentum, Klopp took off Shaqiri for Naby Keita before then throwing caution to the wind and putting on and forgotten-man Origi.

The Belgian striker could have put the Reds ahead almost immediately when Van Dijk's knock-down went his way, but he could only hit the post from close-range.

However, he finally got his goal and sent Anfield rocking when Pickford's error saw the ball land on his head in the final few seconds of added time.

Victory means the Reds are still just two points behind leaders and five ahead of third place .
