Nabil Fekir to Liverpool latest - £62 million transfer nears completion

Shai Khullar -

Nabil Fekir is set to make a move to Liverpool, as the latest reports in France claim a deal between and the Reds is imminent.

The Reds had reportedly agreed a £62 million deal with the French club earlier this month, however reports seem to have been initially premature.

Fekir, who started what is likely to be his final game for Lyon on Saturday night, produced a brilliant assist for Memphis Depay to equalise following the interval.

Lyon went on to secure European football for next season with a 3-2 , edging out rivals Marseille to the third and final spot in France.

Speaking after the fixture, Fekir said: "Is this goodbye? Honestly, I don't know. I've had an exceptional season here with the exceptional players, fans and staff. We've finished beautifully.

"I think I gave everything in Lyon. Now, it's time to look into the future."

During the game, broadcasters Canal+ claimed a deal between Liverpool and Lyon for the French is "99% done".

The club captain, who has been at Lyon his entire senior career, has had a fantastic season in France, scoring 23 goals in 39 games.

A move for the 24-year-old looks imminent, with Lyon manager Bruno Genesio, speaking ahead of Saturday's decisive clash, suggesting Fekir could turn out in Lyon colours for the last time.

“We have to put aside everything related to emotion. For some, this may be the last game,” he said.

“It must give [those players] even more strength because you have to say: ‘[I will] leave by qualifying this team for the Champions League'.

“There is also the . The very great players are able to ignore all this. I think Nabil will play a big match on Saturday.”

When asked on Thursday if the Nice match will be his last match, Fekir told France Football: "I do not think about this at all.

"As I said before, my only priority is to win this match against Nice. I am only thinking about this. After the match, we'll see."
