After not posting a scoreless draw in the last two seasons, Liverpool have two in their last three matches, thanks to the result at Arsenal. This one feels a bit more like celebrating, however, as the Reds have now taken four points off of the EPL leaders in two matches. Arne Slot is pleased with the overall result, but not so much with Gabriel Martinelli’s actions after Conor Bradley’s injury.
Slot Fears The Worst With Bradley Injury
Conor Bradley went down with an apparently serious knee injury late in the contest as he had to be stretchered off.
“It did not look good,” Slot told Sky Sports. “We are going to hope for the best, but it appears to be another serious injury for us.”
Slot also called out Gabriel Martinelli’s actions after Bradley’s injury as Martinelli tried to roll Bradley off the pitch during stoppage time.
“If a player of ours is on the floor, people might know by now that 99 out of 100 times there’s something wrong with the player. You could see this. You don’t like to see a player being moved when he might have such a big injury.”
Goal Achieved
Slot said before the match that he felt the Reds could give the Gunners a proper fight, and that’s exactly what happened.
“Yes, I think we did,” he said .”In the first half, they were the team that played most on our half. Led to a few moments of crosses but not big chances. Second half was exactly the opposite. The only thing that missed, maybe from my side, was, again, not for the first time, from all that ball possession you are hoping to create even more chances, but against an Arsenal team that have great momentum, to put in a performance like this is something I’m very positive about.”
LFC Globe Verdict
I have said before that sometimes draws feel like wins, others feel like losses. Unlike the matches against Fulham and Leeds, this one feels like a win. Arsenal were heavy favorites to pick up all three points, and Liverpool spoiled the party on a rainy evening in North London. The point is particularly impressive considering that Liverpool had 0 shots on goal over 90 minutes. After a stat like that, supporters should be happy with a point all day long. The Bradley injury is concerning, but Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last 10, and they are gaining momentum at just the right time.
