Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's touching message to Liverpool supporters following comeback

has offered his thoughts on his return from injury after featuring for the first time in over a year on Friday night.

The Reds defeated lowly 5-0 with a brace for and Sadio Mane whilst Naby Keita netted the break-through in the first minute.

There was a brilliant moment for Oxlade-Chamberlain during the victory after being a surprise inclusion on the substitutes bench for the first time since his injury in April last year.

The midfielder came on for the best part of 20 minutes and came close to scoring with one of his first few touches, however it was the reception he received from the crowd that was most poignant.

Writing on social media after the game, Oxlade-Chamberlain said of his return:

"367 days later... I can't tell you how good it feels to be back. Thank you to everyone who helped to get me back on the pitch, all of the staff at the club and my teammates too.

"Also a big thank you to you, the fans, for supporting me in some of my darkest times as a player.

"The reception I got tonight is something I'll remember for life. Thank you."

Reds skipper , , and were one of many to congratulate the 25-year-old on his long-awaited return.

Speaking after the game, Henderson said: "I'm delighted for Ox. He worked so hard to get back to where he is now and when he came on he looked as if he had never been .

"He has been sharp in training and I wish that chance went in for him, but we are all delighted to have him back because he's an important player."

The Reds take on in the semi-final first-leg at Camp Nou next week and it will be intriguing to see whether Jurgen Klopp chooses to include the midfielder in a game with such high stakes so soon after returning.
