Several individual Liverpool players found success over the international break, but now it's time for the Reds to continue EPL play by visiting Wolverhampton tomorrow, on Saturday, October 16th looking to remain unbeaten in the Premier League.
Facts & Figures
Liverpool currently own the longest unbeaten streak in the EPL. They are unbeaten in the last 15 League matches with 10 wins and 5 draws, Liverpool have also won 12 out of the last 13 matches against the Wolves dating back to 2011. The one loss was a 3-0 defeat on February 4th 2023. Liverpool have also had a solid record when playing on September 16th. The Reds have not lost on this date since 1967, having collected 12 wins and 5 draws in matches played on September 16th.
Scouting The Wolves
Wolverhampton will be at home for only the 2nd time this season. They have one win so far and sit 15th on the table with three points. They are led by former Liverpool Acadamy coach Gary O'Neil who took over the club at the beginning of the season, They have three different players who have scored two goals each this season including a pair of defenders, so it's clear that Wolverhampton like to bring players up from the back to attack in their 4-4-2 system.
Injury Update
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out of the match with a hamstring issue and Virgil van Dijk is still serving a red card suspension. Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz may not be available having just seen heavy minutes for Argentina and Colombia, but they could see limited action off of the bench.
LFC Globe Verdict
This feels like a big game. Liverpool struggled at Wolverhampton last season in a 3-0 loss, but this team looks totally different. The Reds need to put on a dominating performance from the opening whistle to show that the struggles of the past are well and truly behind them. I think Mohamed Salah will once again get on the scoresheet with either an assist or a goal to extend his Premier League record in that category to 16 matches and the Reds win fairly comfortably 3-1.
