Hugo Ekitiké scored a brace in quick succession after going down 1-0 to Newcastle  and Ibrahima Konate was very solid in his return to the backline as the Reds secured a huge 4-1 win over the Magpies at Anfield.

  • Alisson: (6/10) A bit shaky and indecisive as to when to come for the ball and when to stay back
  • Konate: (9/10) Very solid in his return. Good in the air on defensive headers: Late goal crowned the evening
  • Gakpo: (6/10) Popped up in good spots but lacked that critical touch
  • Virgil Van Dijk (7/10) The captain  lit a fire under his team with some pointed words after giving up a goal. The Reds responded with two goals in two minutes. 
  • Kerkez: (7/10) Brilliant pass from the back to garner an assist and then a cheeky finish for the third goal
  • Wirtz: (7/10): Fancy footwork to set up first goal
  • Salah:(6/10) Gave the ball away too much and scuffed a big chance in the first half, but a cutback pass set up Wirtz’s goal
  • Mac Allister: (5/10) Went down too easily on a few occasions and picked up a yellow card for a bad foul.
  • Szoboszlai: (610)  Covered a lot of ground, but nothing stood out
  • Ekitiké: (9/10) Two outstanding goals, the second from  a tight angle
  • Gravenberch: (6/10) Perfectly serviceable, particularly since he was having to play out of position

  • Chiesa: (6/10)  One of a trio of late subs that helped to see out the win
  • Jones: (6/10)  One of a trio of late subs that helped to see out the win\

Man of the Match

  • Ekitiké Should have had a hat trick, but fans will not complain too much as he turned the game around with two goals in two minutes. Konate also deserves big praise for his efforts
