This is more like it. After not putting a single shot on frame in the last match, the Reds are already up 2-0 thanks to Rio Ngumoha’s first Anfield goal and a second tally from Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool got off to a bright start, earning a pair of corners inside the first 10 minutes. Andy Roberbertson had a shot blocked moments later, and Salah forced a save. Rio Ngumoha also had some nice runs down the wing, but the game was still scoreless after the quarter-hour.
Cody Gakpo put a chance wide in the 20th minute, and the Reds continued to apply pressure. Fulham put their first shot on frame at the half-hour mark, but Mamardashvili was up to the challenge. The Reds got on the board when Ngumoha sent a curling shot in the far corner of the net for a 1-0 Liverpool lead in the 36th minute.
Just four minutes later, Salah found the opposite corner of the net thanks to an assist from Cody Cakpo to give Liverpool a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
