Arne Slot delivered a bombshell at his pre-game presser, saying the club has"moved on" from Mohamed Salah ahead of the club's EPL match with Tottenham
"I said last week that actions speak louder than words," Slot said. "We have moved on and he has moved on to the AFCON. All the focus for him should be on playing big games for his country and we have some big games. It's fair for him and for us."
In Salah's absence, Slot will shift to a 4-2-3-1 formation as Liverpool face Spurs without Mohamed Salah (AFCON) and Joe Gomez (injury) The good news is that Slot says Jeremie Frimpong is in the squad, though the boss did not elaborate on whether he would start or come off of the bench Following his four goals in two matches, Hugo Ekitiké is expected to lead the line alongside Alexander Isak with Frimpong seeing some time in attack if needed.
The biggest absence may be Joe Gomez in defense. Salah was able to come on as a replacement in the last match, but with Salah away, Andy Robertson will have to go a full 90 if possible. If not, Milos Kerkez can slide in that spot, though he is a more offensive-minded player. The return of Conor Bradley from suspension will also bolster the Reds' defense.
Liverpool Team News vs Spurs: Injury Updates
- ✅ Federico Chiesa: Expected return from illness.
- ✅ Jeremie Frimpong: In the squad
- ✅ Alexander Isak: Fit to feature despite recent knock.
It will be interesting to see if he pairs with Hugo Ekitike as they did vs Milan. The duo need some time on the pitch together, although it's nice that Liverpool have more options than it appeared earlier in the week

Tactical Verdict: How Slot Replaces Salah
Slot changes up his formation a bit to a 4-2-3-1. Slot plays Hugo Ekitike up top as he has four goals in his last two EPL matches. Dominik Szoboszlai can play all over the pitch, but I think he plays an even bigger role in Salah’s absence on the wing. Ibrihima Konaté played much better in the last match so that will take some pressure off a four-man back line.
LFC Globe Prediction
The Tactical Verdict: Richarlison is the Spurs most dangerous man for sure leading the squad with 6 EPL goals. Mohammed Kudos leads the team with 5 assists. They don’t look like the same team without Son Hueng-Min attack, but they can still give the Reds fits especially on their home ground.
Key Stat to Watch: Liverpool have yet to lose an EPL match this season when scoring first. Liverpool have won 4 out of their last 5 matches against Spurs by a combined score of 15-4.
Final Score Prediction: Tottenham 1 - 3 Liverpool
Star Man: Domonik Szoboszlai
