The Reds defeated Sean Dyche's side in convincing fashion, dominating much of the proceedings and showing their quality when it was needed most.

Liverpool took the lead just after the half-hour mark as Trent Alexander-Arnold's miscued cross took a deflection off Burnley striker Chris Wood and looped into the back of the net.

Sadio Mane continued his sublime form at the start of this season as he doubled the Reds' advantage before the break.

The winger latched on to Roberto Firmino's through ball after the Brazilian was gifted a pass by Ben Mee. Mane sent an inch-perfect low shot past goalkeeper Nick Pope, who could do little to keep the effort out.

Firmino turned provider to goalscorer in the second half as he took over from Mohamed Salah's breakaway run and sent a powerful first-time finish past Pope to make it 3-0 to Liverpool.
