Prediction: Lineup Unchanged As Reds Seek Continued Dominance vs. Wolves

Liverpool look to retain their recent run of form when they travel to Molineux to face Wolves tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3rd. This EPL match is the first of two meetings between the two clubs in a span of three days. There should not be too many changes in the lineup for this meeting over the one that saw the Reds defeat West Ham United 5-2

Staying On The Front Foot

Liverpool's most recent game versus West Ham United was a departure from Arne Slot’s more possession-oriented brand of football. Instead, the Reds held less possession than the Hammers, 51 to 49%, nearly 10% lower than their season average. This strategy needs to continue in the coming weeks, particularly vs. Wolves.

They are the worst offence in the EPL, only averaging 0.69 goals per game in 29 contests. The Reds are nearly a goal per match higher with 1.68 goals per match. Jorgen Larsen is the Wolves' leading goal-scorer this season in EPL play, but he only has six. If the Reds bang in a few goals early, the home team will not have time to recover, and the possession statistics won’t matter as much as the final scoreline.

Keep The Good Times Rolling

Liverpool have a perfect record since the loss to Manchester City. That's four wins in a row. The Reds' record versus Wolves may be more impressive. Liverpool are seeking their 8th league double in nine tries versus Wolverhampton. However, many of these games have been decided by one goal, so Liverpool cannot be complacent.

In fact, each of the last three meetings has finished with a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Liverpool. As Slot mentioned in his press conference, Wolves are playing better of late, having just beaten Aston Villa, so the Reds could very well be beaten if they are not switched on from the opening whistle.

Midfield Play Needs To Improve

Even though it has been one of the strongest areas of the pitch this season, Liverpool's play in the midfield took a step backwards in the last match. They had several giveaways and had trouble holding on to possession. Also, West Ham players made runs in behind them during counterattacks, leading to the two goals.

This drop in performance is reflected by the player ratings. Even Domonik Szoboszlai had a tough game by his standards. This is not an area of great concern yet, as it was just one game.  However, if the trend continues, Slot may want to consider making adjustments.

LFC Globe Verdict

Liverpool got off to a fast start vs. West Ham United, leading 3-0 at halftime. They need to do the same here because the Wolves are dangerous if you let them hang around. That's why I think Slot makes no changes from the last game, since he wants the same kind of dominant performance.

Have Your Say

Do you think Slot keeps the same lineup, or would you start someone else, particularly in the midfield, given their struggles in the last match?
