Liverpool FC Match Preview

Recap and Analysis of Jürgen Klopp's Pre-Match Press Conference vs Fulham (with Video)

Jürgen Klopp covered a wide variety of topics in his press conference ahead of Liverpool’s matchup with Fulham. He discussed Luis Diaz’s return to the lineup, Fulham’s form and the slight chance the Reds have to keep moving up the table.

Klopp revealed that Diogo Jota will likely miss the Fulham fixture with an injury, but adds that Diaz is in good form as evidenced by his scoring a goal vs Tottenham.

“What a goal. Great, super,” Klopp said. “He is in training for a while, started really well in training and then how it is after long-term injuries, you can see the power level decreased slightly and then they lack the sharpness here and there – that’s where we just let him be and let him go through this. Now we picked him first time for the first line-up and it was top. That he cannot play 90 minutes was clear but for long spells and as long as he was on the pitch he was really, really strong. So, very good news for us.”

Klopp Praises Cottagers

As mentioned in the match preview, I am really impressed with Fulham this season, moving from the Championship to mid-table in the EPL. Evidently, so is Jürgen Klopp.

”Great season, unbelievable football what Marco (Silva) is doing there,” Klopp said. “Now (they are) still performing, but the results are not there anymore, as much as before maybe. Injuries now, but the way he sets up the team, the way they play, the players they brought in, super-interesting. They've built a really, really, really good side, so we are aware of how good they are, especially if we let them be. We have to make sure they cannot be at their best, that's the first job to do.”

How High Can The Reds Rise?

Even though Liverpool are one of the hottest teams in the EPL right now, the teams in the Top-4 are keeping them at bay. Klopp addressed that fact and whether he believes the clubs can still put pressure on those top teams.

“We don't know (if we can apply pressure) really because they win their games as well. So, nothing changed there,” he said. “It's important, I think the last game showed pretty much everything, showed our situation, we are capable of doing really good stuff, liked it a lot. In short turnarounds between the games, “it's clear that we want to build on stuff, that was really good, like really good and to sort the things we didn't do well and in football, two yards change the world.”

LFC Globe Verdict

There was nothing earth-shattering at the press conference, but that’s a good thing. That means the Reds just need to keep doing what they have been doing during the winning streak, Klopp also addressed his yellow card but that has been covered in the Post Match Press Conference vs Tottenham.
