Hugo Ekitiké scored his second straight brace in the EPL and Mohamed Salah provided an assist off a corner as Liverpool topped Brighton 2-0 after a tumultuous week. It is Liverpool’s 4th straight result in EPL play.
The Starting XI
- Alisson (7/10): Did not have much to do with only one save, but he commanded his box very well as always
- Joe Gomez (7/10): Provided the assist on the opening goal but was forced off with injury in the 26th minute
- Virgil van Dijk (7/10) Helped to clear a late corner to keep the clean sheet.
- Konate (7/10) Much better today, stopping a big chance, but did pick up a needless yellow card
- Kerkez (6/10) Played well in the midfield as Liverpool bossed possession during the match
- Wirtz (6/10) Another solid performance in the midfield
- Szboszlai (6/10) He has been Liverpool’s best player for much of the season. He did not stand out today, but he made no mistakes
- Mac Allister (6/10) Nothing stood out, but a solid shift nonetheless
- Jones (6/10) A solid outing
- Ekitiké (10/10) Clearly the best player on the pitch today with a second straight brace in the EPL
- Gravenberch (7-10) Garnered a big clearance in stoppage time
The Substitutes
- Mo Salah (8/10): Made a big impact after coming on in the 26th minute. Garnered an assist off of a corner, but was a bit too unselfish in front of goal.
- Andy Robertson (6/10) Came on in the 80th minute to help see out the victory
- Federico Chiesa (6/10) Late Sub. Did not see the pitch long enough to make a big impact.
Man of the Match
- Ekitiké He is rounding into form at the right times for the Reds to make a push up the table as 2025 comes to a close
The Manager
- Arne Slot (9/10): The boss does not mind making changes and his adjustments today paid off. The three-man midfield created many chances for Ekitiké and others. Liverpool could have easily scored more.
