‣ 1 May 2019
‣ Camp Nou
‣ Champions League
‣ Semi-Final, 1st Leg
‣ KO: 8pm (BST)

Liverpool have bounced back from their heartbreak in Kiev last year by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League for the second consecutive year.

The Reds have navigated Napoli, PSG, Bayern Munich and Porto so far this campaign but the test of an in-form Barcelona side is an entirely different proposition.

Barcelona, who knocked out Manchester United in the last round, will be in confident mood after clinching the La Liga title at the weekend.

Jurgen Klopp's side have been near-flawless in the league themselves with much of the squad insisting they are determined to win at least one trophy this season after last year's disappointment.

The Reds will need to show their maturity to deal with a raucous atmosphere at the 99,354-seater Camp Nou; this representing one of their hardest away fixtures in the last four years under manager Klopp.

It promises to be an intriguing night in Spain, with the hope that Liverpool can bring back at least an away goal to Anfield for the second-leg next week.

Liverpool were sweating on the fitness of Roberto Firmino after the striker missed the 5-0 win over Huddersfield on Friday night with a muscle strain.

The Brazilian has trained twice since returning on Tuesday morning and made the trip to Barcelona, although Klopp has remained coy on whether he will feature.

It is expected that Firmino will lead the line in a game of such magnitude with fellow Brazilian Fabinho is also expected to return to the starting eleven.

The midfielder was an absentee against the Terriers after suffering a concussion, however Klopp was positive he could be involved against Ernesto Valverde's side.

The manager named Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the travelling squad after he returned to action on Friday, however he is likely to only earn a place on the substitutes bench.

Assuming Firmino is fit enough to lead the line with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, much of the line-up picks itself barring central midfield.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are likely starters with Naby Keita, Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner vying to be third midfielder. Wijnaldum is most probable to feature if Klopp's past line-ups are anything to go by.
