Figures reveal Liverpool shelled out record £26.8m on agents' fees

Liverpool spent a staggering £26.8million on intermediary and agents' fees over the last year - the highest in the Premier League as spending soared once again.

Liverpool were the top flight's biggest spenders at £26.8m, according to Football Association data from 1 February 2017 to 31 January 2018.

The latest FA figures reveal that clubs in England's top league shelled out a total of £211,011,187 - more than ever before.

The Reds made a number of high profile signings between February 2017 and January this year, including Mohamed Salah from Roma and Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.

In contrast, Burnley, who are currently 7th in the Premier League, paid just £3.3m - £1m less than Sunderland, who are bottom of the Championship.

Sunderland spent £4,370,897 - more than they forked out for transfers.

Non-League Aldershot, who are pushing for a return to the Football League, spent the lowest of any club in England's top five divisions. Just £112 was paid to agents or intermediaries.

‣ Highest amount spent: £26.8m (Liverpool, Premier League)
‣ Lowest amount spent: £112 (Aldershot, National League)
