Jurgen Klopp's latest injury update on Liverpool duo as Champions League final looms

Jurgen Klopp has suggested Emre Can could feature for Liverpool in the Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday, having made a surprise recovery from injury.

Can hasn't featured in the last eleven games for Liverpool, having suffered a back injury in mid-March against Watford.

However, he has made a surprise recovery to be fit for the Reds' European final, having trained during Liverpool's training camp in Marbella earlier this month.

The German midfielder was named in the Reds' 24-man squad for the final as they flew to Kiev on Thursday afternoon, despite not being named in Germany's World Cup squad after initially being thought to be unfit.

Klopp, however, spoke to Liverpoolfc.com to provide an update on his and James Milner's fitness - with the latter overcoming a minor muscle issue that saw him miss the Reds' last game.

“Milly was clear [he would be fit] and Emre is a surprise,” Klopp explained.

“He told me he would come back, try this and that and then we would talk to people.

“We thought it would be difficult, but he came back and from the first day it was like, ‘OK, that looks good, how do you feel?’ ‘Very good’, and then the next day ‘very good’ again.

“Now he trains completely normal. He’s a nice option and that’s why he is with us.”

Supporters are still mixed on Can's possible inclusion in the team for the final, with the German widely reported to have already signed a deal with Juventus as he leaves the Reds at the conclusion of his contract.

When asked to comment on the midfielder's future, Klopp said on Thursday: "No clue, it's not important in this moment. He is 100 per cent here but I really have no idea."
