Klopp confirms Mohamed Salah "will be back" against Napoli

LFC Globe -

Jurgen Klopp provided a positive update on 's fitness after he was an unused substitute during Liverpool's 2-1 over Crystal Palace.

Salah was left on the substitutes bench after withdrawing from duty with Egypt due to ongoing concerns over an ankle injury sustained against Leicester last month.

The Egyptian resumed full-team training on Friday after not training with the rest of the squad, with Klopp leaving him on the bench as a precaution.

He was ready to come on to the field after Wilfried Zaha scored a late equaliser for Palace, however, 's winner minutes later resulted in him staying on the bench.

Speaking after the game, Klopp confirmed Salah will be ready to face at in the on Wednesday night.

“When they scored, we prepared a subsitute by bringing on Mo. But then we scored again so we changed our plans and brought Joe (Gomez) on,” Klopp said.

“Mo is all good. He couldn't train for nine days; he was with the Egyptian national team, went and trained kind of 60 or 70 per cent the day before yesterday.

“Yesterday was the first time 100 per cent, so we had then to make the decision of whether we started him or not.

“We didn't start him, we wanted to bring him on as you probably saw but then we scored. So, we could rest him today, that's really good and Wednesday he will be back.”
