Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum offered a diplomatic response to questions regarding his contract situation after the Reds' win over Wolves.
Wijnaldum was on the scoresheet for Liverpool on Sunday night as he put in an accomplished performance to help the Reds to a 4-0 win over Nuno Espirito Santo's side.
The Dutchman was influential in the middle of the park and got his rewards with his first Liverpool goal of the season with an excellent curling finish from outside the box.
Wijnaldum, who has been a mainstay in the Reds side since his arrival in 2016, still has questions over his future after next summer.
The 30-year-old has a little over six months left on his contract and is free to negotiate with foreign clubs in January, with Barcelona strongly linked with a move.
Recent updates from local journalists have made a departure seem inevitable next summer, and Wijnaldum was questioned directly on his intentions after the win over Wolves.
Asked why he would wish to leave somewhere as special as Anfield, Wijnaldum remained coy but admitted he has a "connection" with the club.
"I already said it in my previous interviews. I don't speak about my contract situation," Wijnaldum said as he looked to wriggle out of the direct line of questioning.
"I speak about games and performances. It's not for me to speak about my contract.
"The club should speak about my contract. Of course, there is a connection [with the supporters and club]. From the first moment I came, there was a connection.
"The supporters support me a lot. But like I said, it's not for me to speak about my contract right now, it's up to the club."
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was also asked on his thoughts on the midfielder's situation, as he said: "I hope [he stays].
"You can see, he plays all the time. He plays pretty long when on the pitch and all these things.
"We have a very good relationship, I hope so."
While there is no question of Wijnaldum's commitment on the pitch, the hope is he can agree to a new contract before the season's end.
However, he still appears unlikely to stay, with recent reports claiming there has been no movement on refreshed contract talks.
