All the best snaps from Anfield as Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table on Boxing Day.

The Reds dispatched Newcastle United with a dominant display, with Dejan Lovren giving the home side the lead in emphatic fashion early in the first half.

A Mohamed Salah penalty doubled the advantage minutes after the break as Liverpool controlled the rhythm of the encounter.

Xherdan Shaqiri added a third with a slotted finish from Trent Alexander-Arnold's low cross, before Fabinho added the cherry on top with a late header.

Meanwhile, Manchester City dropped down to third with a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, with Tottenham Hotspur overtaking them by a point.

Liverpool find themselves with a six point lead at the top of the Premier League, still the only unbeaten side, with the fewest goals conceded and most clean-sheets - all signs of title contenders.

Next up for the Reds is Arsenal on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp's side look to make it eight wins out of eight in all competitions during December.

They then face Pep Guardiola's side on 3rd January, a fixture that is looking ever increasingly like a must-win for City after Wednesday's events.
