And they went close to securing all three points when Milner gave Liverpool the lead just after the hour mark.

His low finish looked enough for the Reds, who also had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside in the first-half.

However, Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette brilliantly slotted home past Alisson in the 82nd minute to deny the Reds a win.

Liverpool move to first in the Premier League table but could be usurped by Manchester City and Chelsea after Sunday's fixtures.
