Liverpool extended their lead over Manchester City at the top of the table to nine points after beating Pep Guardiola's side 3-0 on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp made five changes to the side that beat Genk in midweek as Dejan Lovren, Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane returned to the side.
Guardiola's side made a quick start to the game as they looked to go wide and get at the Reds' fullbacks at every opportunity.
Man City had an early shout for a handball against Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Liverpool broke in the same move as they went on to score the crucial opener.
A cross from Mane was cleared to the edge of the box as Fabinho latched on to the ball up and unleashed a powerful strike past the reach of Cladio Bravo to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.
City came close to getting an equaliser just minutes later as Kevin De Bruyne's set-piece reached Raheem Sterling, who fired just wide of Alisson's near post.
Liverpool doubled the lead less than 13 minutes in as Robertson sent in a fantastic curling ball towards Mohamed Salah at the far post, who headed home brilliantly past Bravo.
It was the best possible start for Klopp's side, who looked to be in clinical form with an exasperated Guardiola watching on from the sidelines.
The Reds began to dominate possession as the half wore on and looked threatening upfront. However, City also looked dangerous when given the chance to attack.
A good move from the visitors saw Angelino played through by De Bruyne, with the full-back coming close to pulling one back as he hit the post from close-range.
Liverpool continued pressing from the front and carried on making chances for themselves, with Roberto Firmino coming close twice following well-worked moves from the Reds.
Sergio Aguero then dragged his shot wide of Alisson's post, before Salah tested Bravo with a rasping shot from distance as the Reds went into the interval 2-0 up.
City came out well after the break as they looked to impress their game on the Reds, but to no avail as it got even better for Klopp's side.
Henderson sent in a stunning cross from the byline towards Mane, who timed his run to perfection and squeezed his header past Bravo to make it 3-0 to Liverpool.
The skipper made way for Milner on the hour mark as Klopp looked to shore up his midfield and maintain his side's intensity in the middle of the park.
Aguero's barren run at Anfield continued as De Bruyne found him with an excellent squared ball, only for him to fail to make contact from close-range in a big miss for the visitors.
City finally got their goal with a little over ten minutes left as Bernardo Silva swept a tidy finish past Alisson to make it 3-1.
The visitors piled on the pressure in the closing stages, but the Reds held on for an all-important three points as they head into the November international break.
The result gives Liverpool with an eight-point lead at the top of the table, with City moving down to fourth place below Leicester and Chelsea - nine points adrift of the Reds.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah.
