Watch: Pep Lijnders discusses Norwich, injury update and Elliott response
21st September 2021
Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders previewed Liverpool's Carabao Cup clash against Norwich, providing an update on his squad as well as Harvey Elliott's morale.
Key Quotes
On the Carabao Cup...
It's gold for young players, proper gold, because we like this competition to introduce new players – and that's why I have to say that Curtis, he's going to start tomorrow as well and it's his 50th game for Liverpool. That all started with this cup.
On the squad's injuries
Thiago ... it was a calf injury. I can’t say now how long it will take but definitely not tomorrow and not at the weekend. [Trent] should be fine in a few days but Norwich comes too early. Then we have Bobby, who will do parts of team training but also not ready. But progressing well. And Neco is progressing well as well.
On Elliott...
Harvey is Harvey, a young boy and he deals with it outstandingly ... He deals with it really well and we have a really strong structure in place with our medical department, with all the guys around, we try to support him as much as we can in these early stages.
