Liverpool vs Brentford highlights: Watch the goals and extended highlights as the Reds earned a comfortable 3-0 win at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool were commanding from the off as they applied pressure on the visitors in search of an early opening goal, but Brentford's backline did just enough to thwart some promising attacks.
Thomas Frank's side had signs of encouragement when given the chance to form a counter-attack, with frontmen Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo forcing Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk into some crucial interceptions.
But Liverpool finally struck just before the stroke of half-time as Trent Alexander-Arnold's in-swinging cross made its way to Fabinho, who rose and nodded the ball past goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez to give the Reds a much-deserved 1-0 lead at the break.
The second half went much the same way as the first, with the Reds continuing to remain in the ascendency and threatening a second goal, with missed opportunities for Fabinho, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.
The Reds eventually doubled their lead through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who got on the end of Andy Robertson's cross from the left before heading the ball past Fernandez to make it 2-0.
Takumi Minamino came on from the bench and added a third from close-range to clinch all three points after Firmino had won the ball and generously set up the Japan international to net his second Premier League goal of the season.
It was a successful day at the office for the Reds, who now turn their attention to midweek's trip to the Emirates as they look to advance to the Carabao Cup final with a win against Arsenal on Thursday night.
