Jurgen Klopp's side stepped up their preparations for the new season as goals from Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Rhian Brewster earned a 3-0 win over Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

It was a challenging first outing in four weeks as torrential rain made conditions difficult for both sides. But the Reds displayed their superiority and dominated throughout the 90 minutes.

There was a first glimpse of new signing Kostas Tsimikas, who impressed with his runs forward and willingness to put the ball into the box.

17-year-old Billy Koumetio also got a run-out, with the highly-rated centre-back displaying his physical prowess and composure at the back for the final 20 minutes.

Next up for the Reds is a meeting against RB Salzburg on Tuesday afternoon, before jetting back to Merseyside to wrap up their pre-season ahead of next Saturday's Community Shield clash against Arsenal.
