The best photos from Goodison Park as Liverpool held on Premier League return

Sadio Mane - Black Lives Matter Kneel vs Everton

The best photos from Goodison Park as Liverpool played out a goalless draw against Everton on their return to Premier League football.

Following a lengthy three-month break, Liverpool were looking to go one step closer to clinching the Premier League title with a win against local rivals Everton.

Joel Matip and James Milner started in the back-line. There were rare starts for Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino, while Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson didn’t feature due to injury concerns.

Liverpool started the game impressively and dictated the rhythm of the game for large spells, but failed to capitalise on their dominance.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was largely untested for much of the game, but Alisson was called into action a few times as the home side looked to spring a surprise on the counter.

The Brazilian kept out Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison in the second half to save the Reds from being victims of a cruel smash and grab.

It wasn’t vintage Liverpool, and the hiatus undeniably disrupted their style of play, but it was an overall solid first run-out after a long enforced break, only even if to build up their sharpness.

The result leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side five points adrift from sealing the Premier League title, with games against Crystal Palace at Anfield and Manchester City at the Etihad to come.
