Usually, when Liverpool and Chelsea meet on the pitch, they are battling it out for one of the top spots on the EPL table. That is not this season, however as the two EPL giants are 9th and 10th on the table. Both clubs will be looking for in hopes of stabilizing their season, setting up an entertaining 90 minutes at Anfield.

Premier League Problems

Liverpool looked to have turned things around with 4 straight League wins to end . However, has not gotten off to a ringing start as they have dropped away fixtures to Brighton and by a combined score of 6-1. The club showed a much better fight in the FA Cup win at Wolverhampton. Now the Reds need to bring that same attitude to their pitch in hopes of earning 3 points and moving up the table.

Chelsea Singing The Blues

Like Liverpool, have struggled this season. They have 28 points on the table but have played one more match in league play than the Reds. The Blues are coming off a vs Crystal Palace but were soundly beaten by Manchester City 4-0 in FA Cup play the outing before that.

Chelsea is led by former Liverpool player and English Raheem Sterling, who has 6 goals in the season. But the Blues hope to get a boost with the of Noni Madueke. The winger recently signed with Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven where he was teammates with Cody Gakpo.

Jürgen Klopp said in his press conference that Darwin Núñez is close to a return. Hopefully, he can return to action after missing the last two fixtures due to injury.

LFC Globe Verdict

I was privileged to see Chelsea play in person this season when they visited MLS side Charlotte FC for a pre-season fixture. When the Blues lost to Charlotte on penalties, I knew Chelsea would struggle within EPL play. The signing of Noni Madueke is a bit of an unknown as he is expected to make his debut in this match. Seeing him and go against one another should be interesting. The clubs have had similar struggles this season and are next to each other on the table, so I expect a 1-1 draw.
