Match Preview: Reds to face struggling Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Liverpool face a quick turnaround as they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea, The Blues have made a managerial change after a to Aston Villa, but that is just one of the interesting storylines ahead of the match.

The Home Stretch

As the season winds down with only 11 matches left, the Reds have two choices. Either fold up shop and get ready for next season, or continue to fight to see if they can salvage a spot in the Champions or . The result will go a long way in determining the outlook for the rest of the campaign. Diogo Jota says, however, that the team will keep fighting.

“We need to fight to try to do the best possible we can this season,” he said. “There are still 11 games to go and we need to give proper energy and be ready for next season, because we need to qualify for something, and is still possible – it would be massive if we could do that.”

Chelsea Singing The Blues

While Liverpool have been inconsistent this season, there have been several bright spots. Chelsea on the other hand is in disarray. They have won just 10 of 28 matches inside the Premier League this season and sit 11th on the table. This led to the sacking of Graham Potter on April 2nd and now Bruno Saltor is in charge on an interim basis.

“Obviously it has been a difficult 24 hours for all of us, for the staff, for the families and now we have to live with the situation," he said. "If I'm here right now it's because Graham and the club thought it was the right step. I'm just here to help the club in the best way I can. I'm here right now, trying to keep the process going. We try to go along with it the best we can. I think Graham did an amazing job. Football is a really complex business and we have to keep going."

News & Notes

Several milestones could be reached in Tuesday's match. If Jordan Henderson makes an appearance, it will be his 350th for the club. If Liverpool garners a result, it will be their fifth straight visit to Stamford Bridge without a loss, the longest such streak in club history. If that history is any indication the teams will likely be forced to settle for a draw as they have done so the last 5 times they have met on the pitch including a 0-0 draw earlier this season.

LFC Globe Verdict

This match may be one of the toughest all season that Jürgen Klopp and the Reds have had to prepare for. With a new manager in his first game in charge, you just don't know what to expect. Chelsea have some great players such as and my favourite non-Liverpool player Christian Pulisic, but the club has underperformed. Honestly, I don't see either side playing that well and they won't in this match either as the sides will have to settle for a 6th straight , 1-1.
