Liverpool looked increasingly likely to be forced into settling for just a point, however the introduction of Jordan Henderson and James Milner changed the complexion of the tie.

The Egyptian had the option of passing to Roberto Firmino, however he slotted confidently into the bottom right corner to put the Reds 2-1 up - perhaps their most crucial goal so far this season.

It was Salah's 50th Premier League goal for Liverpool, a milestone he has endured a long wait for; he had not scored in his last nine games for the Reds.

Henderson's impact from the bench was rewarded in the final five minutes as Roberto Firmino found the skipper inside the box. The midfielder slotted home and the emotion behind his celebration was clear for all to see.

It was a huge moment in the hunt for the Premier League title, with the captain saying after the game that the Reds need to win each one of their last five games.

Attention now turns to the Champions League as Jurgen Klopp's side face Porto for the first leg of their quarter-final tie at Anfield on Tuesday.
