Liverpool made an impressive start to the game and made their dominance count early on through Diogo Jota, who produced an excellent dinked finish over the goalkeeper to continue his rich vein of form.
The Reds appeared to be back to their best as they showed off their full attacking repertoire, and they doubled the lead after the half-hour mark as Jota smashed the ball into the back of the net.
The 23-year-old brought down Joe Gomez’s long ball and powered the ball past goalkeeper Marco Sportiello in magnificent fashion to add to his opener, making it five goals in his last four appearances.
Liverpool took it up a level in the second half as they scored three quick goals inside the opening ten minutes of the restart.
Mohamed Salah curled the ball into the far corner before assisting Sadio Mane, who finished with his left from inside the box.
Jota made it 5-0 as he bagged an outstanding hat-trick with another fine finish, this time rounding the goalkeeper before coolly slotting the ball into the back of the net.
Liverpool continued to have chances throughout the half, but the hosts managed to keep the margin to five as the Reds cruised to a comfortable three points – putting them five points clear at the top of Group D.
