Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster has signed a new five-year deal with the club, ahead of what could be his breakout season at the club.
The 18-year-old had been linked with a move to Germany, with RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach interested in securing his signature. However, the former Chelsea youth player to put pen to paper on his first professional deal at Anfield.
Currently undergoing rehabilitation after ankle and knee surgery, Brewster is expected to make his return ahead of the new year and be part of the senior side this season, providing cover for Roberto Firmino.
Jurgen Klopp's show of faith in the youngster was crucial in convincing the teenager to turn down advances from Germany and remain on Merseyside.
Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, Brewster said: “It feels great. I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time now and I think it’s the right moment for me and my family.
“I’m looking forward to getting back fit and making some appearances.
“Since I got here the club has been amazing to me and treated me like family.
“It seems like I’ve been here my whole life, to be honest. It’s coming up to my fifth season now.
“I [still] remember my first training session. It’s amazing and I can’t wait to get started.”
