Manchester City vs. Liverpool: The Reds Can Go Top With A Win Against The Reigning Champions

25th November 2023

Liverpool will travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on on Saturday (November 25) in what will be the game of the season so far.

It's a battle of the 's best this weekend as domestic football returns upon the end of the break this week.

With just one point separating the two clubs - with City leading the league - a victory for Liverpool from would not only send Liverpool top of the table but will send the reigning champions a massive statement on Liverpool's capability to the league.

's side scored a much-needed 3-0 victory against before the international break while Pep Guardiola's side had a 4-4 thriller with in a game they were leading three times.

Both clubs have had moments of weakness during the season but Saturday's clash will no doubt show off the best football that England has to offer.

As we soon enter December, the busy period in the Premier League will take hold momentarily as Liverpool will have to play a whopping three games in nine days following their clash against City.

Their last win against the three-time consecutive champions came last year when 's goal made the difference in a 1-0 win.

City have since got the better of the Reds in their last two games, having knocked out Liverpool in the League Cup in late before demolishing them 4-1 in April at earlier this year.

It's yet another battle between Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp who have established themselves among the greatest Premier League managers of all time with their sensational rivalry over the last few years.

LFC Globe Verdict

Liverpool have an abysmal record at the Etihad Stadium, having last won there in 2018 in the knockout stages. You have to go back to 2015 for their last Premier League victory in Manchester.

With both sides expected to name their strongest sides (apart from long-term absentees), I believe a 2-2 will occur as there'll be no separating the sides who both have an abundance of quality.

Mohamed Salah will continue his fabulous goal-scoring record against Man City while will get on the scoresheet once again after a fruitful international break with Uruguay where he scored three goals in FIFA qualifying.
