Liverpool vs. Sheffield United: The Reds Host A Struggling Blades Side At Anfield

Liverpool will hope to continue their reign at the top of the Premier League when they host Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday (April 4).

Upon the return to

the Premier League this past weekend, Liverpool’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brighton on Saturday (March 31) saw them leapfrog Arsenal to the summit of the Premier League.

Jürgen Klopp’s side now lead the Gunners by two points and are three points ahead of reigning league champions Manchester City with just nine games left to play.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast and Liverpool’s next test sees them take on Sheffield United who are rooted at the bottom of the table and are almost certainly destined for a swift return to the Sky Bet Championship.

While Liverpool are flying high and have earned five wins out of their last six games, United have won just one game since December and are already eight points adrift from safety which leaves them a miracle to achieve should they want to retain their Premier League status.

The fixture list is certainly not getting easier with Liverpool next up on their calendar - a team they haven’t beaten since 2003.

Liverpool are on a run of six straight victories against the Blades which dates back to 2007 and they earned a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane back in December.

LFC Globe Verdict

Liverpool will expect nothing short of a win and a comprehensive one at that. While they do retain a two-point lead over Arsenal, the Gunners do have a superior goal difference which could become mightily important in the final few games of the season.

Liverpool must be as ruthless as possible in front of goal in order to boost their goal difference in what I believe will be a mammoth 5-0 win for the Reds.
