Liverpool put forth a strong showing in the final pre-season warmup of the campaign vs. a talented Como 1907 side, winning 2-0. Jeremy Jacquet was impressive in his Liverpool debut, while Cody Gakpo and Jeremie Frimpong also put in a good day’s work.

  • Alisson (7/10): A few really good saves against a talented side
  • Van Dijk  (6/10): Solid in the back, but performance did match that of some others
  • Jacquet (8/10):  Great debut, did a little bit of everything in the first half
  • Kerkez  (6/10): Some nice play going forward, but could not find the finishing touches
  • Wirtz (6/10): Another player with good moments, but outshone by others
  • Szoboszlai (7/10): His usual strong outing. Picked up a knock in the second half.
  • Isak (6/10): Unlucky to hit the post early in the first half, but looked in good form and ready for the season.
  • Gakpo (8/10):  A calm finish on his strike. Also picked up an assist
  • Frimpong (8/10): All over the pitch today. He seems to fit well within Iraola’s system
  • Gravenberch (6/10):  Not bad at all. Just not as strong as others.
  • Ngumoha (7/10): Made a strong case to be a regular starter come the EPL season

Substitutes

  • Araújo (4/10): Invisible man after coming on the pitch
  • Koumas (6/10): Active on both ends of the pitch after coming on. Would have had a better rating if not for the yellow card.
  • Muñoz (5/10): Although quiet today, he showed flashes that he can help the squad either as a starter or coming off the bench
  • Nyoni (6/10): Won the ball high up the pitch and delivered a good pass that nearly led to a third goal
  • Wright (5/10): Late sub with little impact

Man of the Match

Jacquet

The Manager

  • Andoni Iraola (9/10):  If this is the lineup the boss trots out regularly, Liverpool will challenge for a top spot in the EPL

LFC Globe Verdict

This was probably the Reds' best match of the pre-season, which is good to see since the EPL campaign is up next. I was really impressed with Jacquet, Frimpong, and Gakpo. They look ready to go. The defense also looked more solid in the second half.
