Crystal Palace 1–3 Liverpool Player Ratings

Crystal Palace gave Liverpool a proper fight despite being bottom of the table, but the Reds turned in a workmanlike performance to secure a critical 3-1 win at Selhurst Park. Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring with a first half header and Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak added insurance goals to seal the victory. Meanwhile, Alisson was brilliant in goal despite allowing a late PK in stoppage time.

Starting XI Ratings

#1 Alisson (8.0/10): Recovered well from a poor performance last time out. Fantastic effort between the pipes

#4 Virgil van Dijk (7.0/10): Turned back the clock with an outstanding block on an Eagle counterattack. Solid the rest of the way

#5 Jérémy Jacquet (6.0/10): Mixed bag. Had some nice recovery runs, but was beaten a few times as well

#6 Milos Kerkez (5.0/10): Solid match, but overshadowed by others

#7 Florian Wirtz (7.0/10): Right place, right time with a back post run on the second goal.

#8 Dominik Szoboszlai (6.0/10): Survived an injury scare to deliver a top-class assist on the opening goal

#9 Alexander Isak (5.0/10): A bit disappointing that he was not more clinical in front of goal until the very end when he finished for his 7th goal

#10 Alexis Mac Allister (8.0/10): Helped neutralize Adam Wharton in the midfield and scored the opening goal. Nearly got a second with another header.

#18 Cody Gakpo (5.0/10): Name barely called

#29 Bradley Barcola (7.0/10): Really came alive in the second half. Constant threat and delivered the knockout blow with that assist to Wirtz

#33 Ronald Araújo (7.0/10): Surprisingly, the Eagles put the Reds under pressure too often and the backline, including Araújo.

Substitutes

#2 Joe Gomez (N/A): Late Sub

#23 Víctor Muñoz (5.0/10): Picked up a yellow card for a dive in the box. The youngster will learn and then he made up for it with a big assist.

#42 Trey Nyoni (6.0/10): Brilliant touch to win the ball in midfield after coming on

#67 Lewis Koumas (N/A): Late Sub

#73 Rio Ngumoha (5.0/10): Popped up in good spots but wasted the opportunities

Our player of the match

Alexis Mac Allister was solid going forward, controlling the midfield and defending when he had to. He gets the slight nod over Alisson, who had his best game of the season

The Manager

Andoni Iraola (8.0/10): Great selections and good calls on the subs. Iraola is still unbeaten in EPL games on the road. Made adjustments after the two straight losses and have Liverpool climbing the table again

LFC Globe Verdict

This wasn’t the easiest of matches to win, but Liverpool got the job done and took a massive three points heading into the international break. Nothing to complain about. A Solid team victory.
