Liverpool has added a major scoring punch to their frontline by signing a coveted transfer, Bradley Barcola from PSG. According to reports, the deal is a five-year contract worth £123 million.
“It’s a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool,” Barcola said. “I’m very happy. It took a long time, but I’m really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool, and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play.”
The 23-year-old forward has already had an outstanding career at both the club and international level. At PSG, Barcola made 152 appearances, scoring 39 goals and 35 assists, helping the club to a pair of Champions League titles. For the French National team, Barcola has scored 6 times in 28 caps. He will wear number 29 for the Reds.
LFC Globe Verdict
This is a nice signing, but I am not as excited as some others. I would rather have the Reds bolster their backline instead. 2-2 draws are not good enough for Liverpool. We don’t need more scoring. We need an elite defender. Someone like Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Another question is, who do you leave out of the Starting XI to put Barcola in? Gakpo? Not really. He has been one of the most productive players in the first two games. I guess you could start him up top in place of Isak, but the Swedish striker is finally rounding into form after scoring against Forest. Andoni Iraola will have some tough choices to make, but I think the boss made a mistake in signing Barcola. Time will tell. One way or another, this move will define the next era of Liverpool Football Club.
