Liverpool made several incursions into the Villa box inside the first 10 minutes. Shortly after, Marmadashvilli was caught off his line, and Joe Gomez had to clear the shot. The home team kept taking advantage of Liverpool’s trouble playing out of the back, but Villa could not score.

Liverpool enjoyed a nice spell of possession around the 20-minute mark, but they could not get on the end of dangerous balls in the box. In the 27th minute, Ryan Gravenberch forced a save, and Cody Gakpo sent home the rebound, but he was offside.

Domonik Szboszlai unleashed a vicious strike in the 30th minute, but it was knocked away for a corner. The corners kept coming over the next stretch of the game, but the Reds could not get the final touch they needed. Villa’s Morgan Rogers scored off of a set piece in the 42nd minute to give his team the lead at the break

LFC Globe Verdict

Liverpool are playing well. That late goal was unfortunate. Ngumoha needs more time on the ball as his defender is on a yellow.
