Liverpool and Tottenham had an entertaining Carabao Cup tie as the Reds held off a late Spurs surge to win 3-1 and advance to the next round.
- Mamardashvili (6/10): Brilliant save in the first half to keep Spurs off the board, but came off his line too early on Tottenham's goal.
- Gomez (5/10): Not bad in half of the work. Some nice defense, but some giveaways high up the pitch
- Kerkez (7/10): Brilliant tackle to stop a goal
- Mac Allister (9/10): Can’t do much better than a goal and an assist
- Gakpo (6/10): His strong play to start the season continues with a second-half goal
- Frimpong (5/10): Was hoping for a more explosive performance
- Araújo (5/10): His giveaway and subsequent card dropped the score
- Nyoni (5/10): Serviceable but not a huge impression
- McConnell (6/10): Acquitted himself pretty well. Probably earned more playing time.
- Koumas (7/10): Very bright moments for the youngster. Made a bid for future minutes with this performance
- Ngumoha (7/10): Was involved in most of the attacks before coming off

- Jacquet (6/10) Solid in the back
- Szoboszlai (7/10): Missed an easy shot, but was solid in other respects and added a stoppage time strike in the pouring rain.
- Gravenberch (6/10): Brought on to see off the game and did his job
- Barcola (6/10): Showed good pace coming off the bench
- Isak (7/10): Should have been awarded a penalty after a nice move in the box straight off the bench

LFC Globe Verdict
Liverpool got tested in the second half, but the Reds showed real quality in the 3-1 win. Lewis Koumas was really impressive, and Szoboszlai finished the game off with a spectacular goal. Hopefully, the strong play can carry over to the EPL play.
