Liverpool cleared an early corner from Palace. The Reds answered with a corner of their own, but a strong chance was punched away by Eagle goalie Dean Henderson.  A bad giveaway set up another corner for the visitors in the 11th minute, but it was also cleared.

Woodman made a nice save in the 17th minute before the game really opened up. On a counter-attack, Salah was awarded a penalty kick, but the decision was reversed after a VAR review.

Salah’s good game continued as he put a shot high in the 31st minute, and another run led to a goal. He beat his defender down the wing and found Alexis Mac Allister. Mac Allister played the ball forward to Alexander Isak, who appeared to scuff the shot, but it was enough to beat Henderson for a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute.

Just 5 minutes later, the Reds added a second. After Woodman made a strong save, Jones found Andy Robertson, who was playing forward, and he calmly finished in the bottom corner for a 2-0 halftime lead.
