Our player of the match

Ronald Araújo. He is our player of the match. He was all over the pitch, was brilliant in defense with strong tackles and even a diving header to clear danger. He is an old-school defender that is quickly endearing himself to Reds’ supporters

Liverpool player ratings

  • Alisson (5/10): A clean sheet, but a bad giveaway lowers the rating
  • Van Dijk (7/10): Much better game than the last time out. Dealt with the wind well.
  • Jacquet (6/10): Similar to Van Dijk. Helped quell Brighton’s threats all match
  • Kerkez (5/10): An up-and-down game was beaten a few too many times to earn a higher mark
  • Mac Allister (6/10): Name barely called, but he held his own vs Gross in the midfield
  • Gravenberch (6/10): Another piece of a strong defensive effort.
  • Araújo (8/10): Great game. A diving header cleared first-half danger and also threatened the goal by pushing forward
  • Barcola (7/10): Faded a bit in the second half or else he would have been MOTH
  • Wirtz (6/10): Will feel hard done to have his first PL goal changed, but a proper shift nonetheless before coming off.
  • Gakpo (7/10): Popped up in good spots all match long. He just could not find the finish.
  • Isak (6/10): Was in the right place for the goal on Barcola’s cross. Not much else.

Substitutes

  • Nyoni (7/10): Blocked a certain goal just after coming on
  • Ngumoha (5/10): Not much of a chance to work his usual magic
  • Koumas (5/10): Late sub. No mistakes, but no real impact.
  • Tsimikas (6/10) Big block on the lask kick to preserve the shutout

The manager

Andoni Iraola (8/10): I love how the boss is managing minutes with the club.  He seems to always put together the right lineup regardless of competition.

LFC Globe Verdict

Aside from a few shaky moments from Alisson, not much to complain about. This was a good win vs. an improved Brighton club. The Reds showed today that they belong in the top part of the EPL
