Injury Update

Liverpool came away from their 2-1 win over Brentford with some fresh injury concerns. Both Jeremie Frimpong and Dominik Szoboszlai were subbed off during the match, with Szoboszlai aggravating a hamstring injury and Frimpong also tweaking a hamstring.

“Jeremie Frimpong has obviously a new muscle injury, and it happened, I think, in the second or third minute he was playing, difficult to predict, and we will have to wait until he recovers.” Andoni Iraola said. “But it’s going to be difficult, I think, before the [November international] break. We will try, but it’s going to be difficult to have him.”

“Dom Szoboszlai is different. It’s not a new injury, I think it’s in the same place it was probably last week. He hasn’t worsened the injury, but probably we have to be a little bit more patient until he recovers fully.”

“But it’s not like something now where he has to wait a lot of time to come back; he is more or less in the same situation he was last week.”Where to watch

Scouting Villarreal

Villarreal are a Spanish side that plays in La Liga. They are known as the Yellow Submarines. Interestingly, the club found that nickname after listening to the Beatles song of the same name, and of course, the Beatles are famously from Liverpool. They are currently 12th in La Liga with 2 wins, three draws, and four losses. Last time out in the Champions League, Villarreal beat Napoli 3-1. They are led in scoring by Pape Gueye, who has three goals.

More Facts & Figures

Villarreal goalie Peter Gulacsi played at Liverpool from 2008-2013. The teams have met four previous times, with Liverpool winning three of those matches and Villarreal winning once. Liverpool have won their last 7 Group Stage matches vs. Spanish sides, keeping clean sheets in four of them. Alexander Isak has scored three career goals vs Villarreal when he played for Real Sociedad.

LFC Globe Verdict

Liverpool have some injury concerns, but I don’t see it being much of a factor here. The Reds have plenty of firepower to sing the Yellow Submarines at Anfield, even though the Beatles connection is pretty cool. Reds win 4-1.
