Liverpool got the job done vs. previously unbeaten Brentford, but they struggled to see off the game against 9 men in a 2-1 win.
- Alisson (6/10): Serviceable day from the keeper, but was caught between two minds and nearly conceded a second goal
- Van Dijk (7/10): Proper shift from the captain. Even came forward in an attack at times
- Jacquet (5/10): Did not stand out, but also no mistakes
- Kerkez (4/10): Struggled at times on the wing as he was beaten to the ball
- Wirtz (8/10): Played a strong game. Created the most chances of the match and garnered an assist.
- Szobozlai (5/10): Concerning injury, left the pitch very frustrated
- Isak (7/10): Quiet day until he scored the game-winner, and that’s all that matters
- Mac Allister (6/10): Strong play in the second half, forcing a couple of saves
- Munoz (7/10): Took some bumps, drew a card, and managed to score the equalizer
- Barcola (6/10): On the one hand, created really good chances. On the other hand, he missed them
- Araujo (5/10) Subbed off at the half and did not do much in the first 45
Substitutes
- Nyoni (7/10) Not flashy but got the job done in place of Szoboszlai
- Frimpong (5/10) was only on the pitch for a few minutes. Couldn’t give a higher rating
- Ngumoha (7/10) Good footwork in tight spaces. Drew a second yellow to send the Bees down to 9 men
- Gomez (5/10): Better play than last match, but missed a few clearances
- Koumas (6/10) Becoming a reliable option for the Reds
Man of the Match
Wirtz
The Manager
- Andoni Iraola (5/10): I don’t want to be too hard on the boss, but Brentford had too much possession in the latter stages of the game
LFC Globe Verdict
A win is a win, but there are some red flags for Liverpool. They were far from convincing playing with a man advantage, and the injuries to Frimpong and Szoboszlai are worrying.
