The Reds are back in Premier League action following midweek's 2-0 win over Porto that saw them consolidate their position at the top of their Champions League group.
All focus now turns to Ralph Hasenhuttl's side, who visit Anfield on the back of a surprise defeat at Carrow Road last weekend after going unbeaten in their previous four league games.
Liverpool meanwhile should be full of confidence having scored in 22 Premier League games in a row since March and also scoring 2 goals or more in their last 16 consecutive fixtures in all competitions.
A win against Southampton would see the Reds add real pressure to their two main title rivals - Chelsea and Manchester City - both of whom have tricky fixtures this weekend.
It should be another exciting 90 minutes of football on a chilly afternoon at Anfield, with the Reds looking to seal all three points and move up to just a point below league leaders Chelsea, even if for only 24 hours.

Liverpool had no fresh injury concerns to report following midweek's win over Porto that saw the boss rotate some of his key stars and provide minutes to those in the wider squad.
Andy Robertson, James Milner and Divock Origi returned to action following injuries and the trio should be involved in the squad once again. However, the Reds remain without Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino, as well as long-term absentee Harvey Elliott.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Diogo Jota are all expected to return to the starting eleven after not featuring from the off against Porto, whilst Robertson will be vying for a starting berth in front of Kostas Tsimikas.
