Jurgen Klopp intent on making more memories with "humble and greedy" Reds squad

LFC Globe -

Jurgen Klopp says now isn't the time for Liverpool to take their foot of the pedal as he insists he isn't satisfied with a sole title.

Liverpool secured their first league title in over 30 years after lost 2-1 to last Thursday.

It has been a remarkable season for the Reds, who have shown no signs of letting up since the start of the campaign.

But while the Premier League trophy is destined for , Klopp insisted his side will look to end the season on a high during their final seven league games.

“As long as we stay humble and greedy, we have a good chance to be a really uncomfortable opponent, and when you are an uncomfortable opponent you have a chance to ,” Klopp said.

“When you have a chance to win, you have to take it.

“Life is constantly a challenge. Our challenge now is to be a champion and to play seven games against teams who are fighting for everything. We can show we don't win because we have to, but because we want to.”

Klopp also insisted his side will not “defend the title” next season, but instead look to be proactive and “attack the next one.”

“We will not defend the title next season; we will attack the next one,” he said. “I have learned that when you think you have reached the pinnacle, you are already on the way down.

“We don't feel that. I don't feel satisfied. This is just another step, a big one, an unbelievably big one, but it's not the only thing I want to talk to the boys about when I meet them in 20 years' time.”

He continued: “As long as you wear the shirt, less than 100 per cent is never allowed.

“That's not my phrase. Fifteen or sixteen years ago, I saw a really nice documentary about the All Blacks, and I kept that for myself.

“And that's for each LFC player and for me. That's what we try to live. Sometimes, unfortunately, it's not all the time because we are human beings.”

Klopp says Liverpool's meeting with last year's champions Man City on Thursday night will be an “intense” game, as he downplayed the guard of honour his side will receive before the game.

“I'm not sure I ever got one,” he said. “I don't know that it's a tradition in Germany, but it's an English tradition.

“It's a nice gesture, 100 per cent, but I wouldn't need it to be honest because we go there to play a football game and we want to win the football game, not to celebrate something that happened a week before.”
