Liverpool could continue transfer trend under Klopp with Ismaila Sarr signing

Liverpool could set their sights on winger Ismaila Sarr this summer following his relegation to the Championship, with the Reds looking to add additional depth out wide.

According to the Watford Observer, Liverpool are said to be "one of three" clubs monitoring the 22-year old's situation, with Sarr leaving the Hornets a strong possibility this summer.

and Crystal Palace are rumoured to be the other clubs interested in the Senegalese's signature, but he may prefer to be reunited with "good friend" Sadio Mane at .

Sarr has scored five goals in 28 games during his debut season at Vicarage Road, and along with six assists for a relegated side; could prove an asset to any side in the league.

According to further reports, any interested party would have to part way with a huge fee, with Watford him for £30m from French side Rennes last summer.

The winger put himself on the radar of Reds supporters after putting in a man-of-the-match performance against Jurgen Klopp's side in February, when he scored twice and set up the other in Watford's shock 3-0 victory.

Sarr is well-known for his marauding style of play down the right-wing, which could see him deputise for , or indeed the right midfielder in Liverpool's typical 4-3-3 formation.

The 22-year-old's raw talent and versatility means he can play on the left, as well as up-front, which would suit the Reds well if rumours surrounding and 's future for next season are correct.

Despite Watford's relegation to the Championship, which should theoretically make it easier to purchase the player, Sarr's contract may have an added relegation-fee clause for clubs in the higher division.

But according to the Mail, Watford are in somewhat of a financial crisis owing to relegation, which could see their most talented players leave the club this summer.

Should the Reds pursue the youngster, he could follow the likes of , and Xherdan Shaqiri in joining Liverpool from a relegated side in previous years.

Before his move to England, Sarr made his name known with Metz in Ligue 1 before a €17m to Rennes, shrugging off interest from .

During his two impressive seasons in France, Sarr also managed to pick up his first Senegal cap, soon becoming a regular in the national team which his current appearance tally on 26, with four goals.

He won a Coupe de France in his final season at Rennes, overcoming huge favourites PSG in the final, before making a move to London.

While consistency is a factor, he has shown he has the ability to make a difference in the Premier League. With rave reviews about his demeanour and eagerness to learn, he could be the ideal signing for the Reds.

The next few weeks are set to be hugely intriguing for the Reds, who tend to get their transfer business done well before the start of the following season.

With Olympiakos left-back Kostas Tsmikas joining the club on Monday, the Reds could be in line for at least another couple new faces in the near future.
