Klopp on Daniel Sturridge's resurgence at Liverpool and 'deserved' point

Liverpool played out a 1-1 against at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with 's late goal rescuing a point for the Reds.

Eden Hazard, the match-winner from the two sides' meeting in midweek, opened the scoring for the side as they looked to secure all three points.

However, substitute Daniel Sturridge scored his 50th Premier League goal for the club as his stunning strike from 20 yards out saw the Reds clinch a late point.

And Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool deserved their 1-1 draw, whilst insisting that Sturridge had “always been” in his thoughts.

“What a game, a spectacular football game,” Klopp told BBC Sport following the game.

“It was so deserved for Daniel [Sturridge], a really nice moment and I'm so happy for him.

“Coming in and being fresh and making decisions is so important and being decisive and he was obviously.

“When he came in the dressing room, the whole dressing room was pretty much dancing.

“He had a difficult time of course but now he has a wonderful time. Maybe now it's the time where he wants to start all the time.

“I think we made one mistake in the game leading to their goal. It's difficult. We had chances, we played fantastic football.

“I love to , but getting a point at Chelsea is good anyway. You can see how good Chelsea are but its nice to see it again.

“I know we deserved that point at least so I'm happy with that.”

On Sturridge, Klopp added: “Daniel has always been in my thoughts, but he was never able to prove it [before West Brom ].

“We thought West Brom was a good idea for him to get minutes under his belt again, and when he came back, he was an option for us.

“It has paid off for him, it's nice and absolutely deserved.”
