Jurgen Klopp has insisted Liverpool must only think about themselves, after defender Kyle Walker's jibe at Liverpool.

The England posted on social media after Liverpool's 1-1 with Leicester last week, captioning a popular Harry Maguire meme: “‘So basically they thought they were gonna go seven points ahead…'.”

Walker deleted the post after receiving criticism from both Liverpool and Man City fans, with Pep Guardiola later saying he was “not concerned” by what his players publicly say.

Liverpool boss Klopp was questioned about his thoughts on Walker's taunt but he insisted he had not heard of it until then. The boss was keen to state the Reds must 'do their own thing', however.

“I cannot help them,” he said during his pre-match press conference.

“I'm not sure what that says about us, I would say it says a bit more about the other person.

“I don't know exactly what you mean [in terms of Walker]. I never celebrated that another team dropped points or lost the game, for me that's not allowed.

“I never asked anybody to clear one side of the pitch and leave the other one in the mud, that's how I understand sports.

“You have to do your own thing, try to show your best performance.

“I don't understand it. For supporters, it's a little bit different; for people involved, I don't understand.

“But it's nothing to criticise from my point of view. Because I don't understand it, how can I criticise it?”

The Reds face at the London Stadium on Monday night as they look to extend the gap at the top of the table to five points again, following City's over on Sunday.
